On reflection many of my B&W social documentary images fall within the title Drab either because of the weather or their subject...
However one area that I have always through of as being drab is a border crossing or border area and the hinterland; they become even 'drabber' when they had been the subject of conflict. Part of my masters involved European post conflict borderlands and here are a few ~ mostly these were made on medium format 6x12 film and scanned to a large file size, so here are some smaller email size images.

What an interesting photo series focus. Any drab with right context becomes fascinating.
ReplyDeleteOf those borders, I've only been to the Spain-Gibraltar.
The holes in the iron curtain are particularly striking.
Thank you Pearl. I felt / feel there is much more to do on this but at the momnent it is not possible. It was a case of finding out some basic information, careful research & targetting of where I went and cheap air fares and hire car!
ReplyDeleteI, too, appreciated the iron curtain shots.
ReplyDeleteheck - I liked all the photos. Quite the set.
